CF 85-90: Class-A gloss that never saw a paint booth
Hard-coat first and it cracks at forming strain. NEXKIN runs the chemistry in-line, before the mould, through a process window the industry said could not be run in production. The PV5 bonnet is the receipt.

Ask any exterior engineer why paint-free panels failed for thirty years and you will get the same answer: the clear coat. Class-A automotive gloss demands a hard, defect-free surface, and hard coatings do not like being stretched over a mould.
The failure mode everyone knows
Apply a hard coat to a pre-formed sheet and it survives, until you form it. At forming strain the brittle coat fractures into a spiderweb of cracks, visible under any showroom light. The industry tried softer coats, thicker coats, post-form spraying. Each workaround reintroduced the cost and energy the paint-free idea was supposed to eliminate.
Chemistry in-line, before the mould
NEXKIN’s answer is sequence, not chemistry alone. Colour, clear, and functional layers are co-extruded into a single 3-layer sheet (MLC) and hard-coated in-line, engineered so the coating system survives the thermoforming window intact. Colour is born inside the sheet; gloss is locked in before the part ever sees the mould.
CF 85-90 distinctness of image, straight from the tool. No booth, no bake, no overspray: the gloss is in the material, not on it.
The receipt is the Kia PV5 bonnet, now in production: Class-A high gloss from the mould, a Euro NCAP 4-star pedestrian rating, and roughly 30% weight cut through part integration. The process window the industry said could not be run in production is running in production.
And because the entire paint line disappears, along with its 40-50% share of process energy and its CAPEX, the panel is not just cleaner. At PBV volumes, it is simply cheaper.
