From order taker to platform partner: the 5-stage integrated model
The legacy chain (OEM, material maker, Tier-1 moulder, each siloed) finds defects late and competes on price only. What a material-driven, CAE-validated, sensor-fed platform does differently.

The traditional materials business is a relay race: the OEM designs, the material maker supplies resin to spec one SKU at a time, the Tier-1 moulder discovers what the material actually does somewhere near the end, if at all. Everyone optimises their own stage; the part pays for the gaps.
The limits of being an order taker
In the sequential model, the linkage between material behaviour and part performance is weak by construction. Root causes of process defects surface late, or never, and every commercial conversation collapses into price. It is a zero-sum position, and it is why material suppliers stay vendors.
Five stages, one platform
Our answer is an integrated stack. Material and design happen together, driven by digital material cards (temperature, speed, mouldability data) and multi-material simulation. High-fidelity CAE validates virtually: impact, durability, springback, before steel is cut. Forming is delivered as an integrated material-plus-process package, cutting tooling lead time ~30% and ramp-up ~50%. In production, in-mould sensors and the Digital Thread keep quality live, lot by lot.
Scope moves from material to module and data. Value moves from cost cut to total solution. Decisions move from reactive to proactive. Position moves from vendor to strategic partner.
For the OEM, the practical difference is compression: development time shrinks, tooling revisions de-risk, and there is one counterpart accountable from material selection to mass production. For us, it means competing on what we know, not on what we charge per kilogram.
That is what “platform company” means in practice: not a product catalog, but a stack a customer builds on. The 8-stage development process our partners join, from material to pre-mass production, runs on this spine.
